Myrrh & Palmarosa Lip Balm

This recipe has been kindly provided to DIY Beauty Diva by Claire from FellowFellow as well as Militza from Little Green Dot.

It’s nice to see different essential oils being used in this lip balm. Palmarosa is a type of lemongrass which smells strongly of roses which is grown in India and has a long track record in Ayurvedic medicine. Myrrh is well-known as part of the Christmas story and its essential oil comes from a spiky shrub grown in Somalia and Yemen.

These essential oils have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making them a great addition to this lovely lip balm recipe. When adding essential oils to a lip balm, try not to exceed 1% of your total formula (so if you make 50 grams of lip balm, only use 0.5 of a gram of essential oil) because the skin on your lips is very thin and essential oils contain lots of potent chemical compounds.

Check out what Claire and Militza did when they made this lip balm as they not only crafted a fantastic recipe, they also made some awesome packaging to go with it!
