DIY Marsh Mallow & Frankincense Facial Masque Recipe

DIY Marsh Mallow & Frankincense Facial Masque

I am a big fan of facial masques and think they are the ultimate luxury in high end skincare. Once a week I try to make myself a fabulous facial masque as a therapeutic treat for my skin. I have a huge arsenal of powdered botanical extracts that I can use and this week I decided to use marshmallow root powder.

Marshmallow is a very useful skincare herb, as its soothing properties make it very effective in treating inflammations and irritations of the skin. The whole plant, but especially the root, is high in mucilage and highly emollient. Mucilage will create a gel-like substance that can soothe which is particularly useful when it comes to inflamed areas of the skin. Perfect in a facial masque if you have sensitive skin!

I’ve blended the marshmallow root with pink clay (also good for sensitive skin), vegetable glycerine to moisturise and frankincense & geranium hydrosols¬†for some lovely anti-ageing goodness.

By the way, if you want to learn how to make professional therapeutic facial masques – come and take my Certificate in Facial Masque Therapy over at Formula Botanica!
